Another Blog about Restaurants? Why?

There are countless perspectives online nowadays referencing the Hospitality Industry. I enjoy watching reels about chocolate sculptures, zany recipe ideas and funky, gimmicky concepts. I also have spent a very long time in the industry, working full service, fast casual, and even in a resort atmosphere. I’ve loved this industry, and all it brings that’s positive – BUT, I have not had all fantastic experiences. This industry is competitive, political, and stressful. Upper management can sometimes focus too much on the bottom line. Guests can sometimes focus too much on how they want to receive service, and employees focus too much on the tip (and justifiably so in most cases) Currently I am in school full time to switch careers because this industry became so toxic…..

So why am I writing about an industry I am abandoning? Because it is still my passion, my first career love, and it needs attention. Companies need to understand how the relentless search for the perfect financials will always cause the restaurant to fold. Guests need to understand what a poor review causes the business. Employees need to realize that only a team will be successful in this atmosphere.

So join me on this adventure! We are going to praise great accomplishments, poke jokes at ridiculous guest complaints. Discuss why or how a situation went wrong. And most importantly, all of it pertains to an industry that shows everyone hospitality, but receives none in return.
